The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Culture provided suggestions and comments to the document

The Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt draft law No. 5409 "On improving the legislation on the protection of animals from cruelty in entertainment activities" as a basis.

The document, among other things, is designed to prohibit the participation of wild animals in performances and contact zoos with them, reports ecocommittee's website.

The report emphasized that the purpose of the draft law is to humanize the attitude towards animals in the field of entertainment, in particular through the ban on demonstrating the ability of animals to train.

The document defines such terms as "contact zoo", "wild animal rehabilitation centers", "circus" and "spectacle event".

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources supported the draft law. And the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and the Ministry of Finance submitted suggestions and comments to draft law No. 5409.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the VRU Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy supported draft law No. 5409 on the banning of circuses with animals and recommended the parliament to adopt it as a basis.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, animal rights activists in the Lviv region filed a complaint with the police at the Apollo circus tent regarding animal cruelty, namely participation in the python performance and a crocodile.
