In Kirovohrad region, the former director of a garbage company has been notified of suspicion for polluting and damaging the land of Oleksandria, which caused damage worth UAH 3.5 million.

The company stored waste in unauthorized places outside the landfill, the Prosecutor General's Office reports.

According to the investigation, in 2021, the Oleksandria City Council and the suspect's company entered into an agreement on the provision of services for the maintenance and disposal of household waste at the city landfill.

It is noted that the company allowed waste to be stored outside the landfill. They contaminated the adjacent agricultural land plots, which are the community's reserve land.

The expert assessment showed that the amount of damage reached UAH 3.5 million.

"The investigation also established that the company used plots for a landfill without any legal documents," the report says. "As part of the investigation, a legal assessment will also be given to the actions of city council officials."

It is noted that policemen are working on the case together with specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Chernihiv Oblast, the director of the Pryluk utility company was informed of the suspicion of contamination of land with hazardous waste, which caused losses of more than 32 million hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a deputy of the regional council will be tried in Volyn, who was found to have received a $35,000 bribe. He demanded money from an entrepreneur who planned to create a waste disposal enterprise in one of the oblast's communities.
