What entrepreneurs want

According to the document, Happy Fish LLC offers the environmental institution to conclude a cooperation agreement with them in the field of recreational activities – grazing livestock (sheep/goats).

The preferred locations for such activities are 14 plots on 12 meadows. They are located on the territory of Yaremche, Yamnya, Zhenets, Tatariv, Pidlisne, Voronenka and Vorokhta forestries.

Types of recreational activities planned by the company:

  • livestock grazing (goats/sheep);
  • cheese production;
  • organizing tastings and excursions.

Happy Fish LLC also plans to build a goat and sheep farm on the provided territories:

  • a farm for goats and sheep;
  • stables;
  • cheese dairies;
  • a tasting room;
  • a museum and a cheese cellar;
  • a kolyba.

For cooperation, the entrepreneurs offer a monthly charitable contribution of UAH 68,000.

The total area of the land they want to operate on is almost 285 hectares.

What alarmed the environmentalist

Volodymyr Boreyko believes that the protected meadows of the Carpathian National Park are in danger of being destroyed. He reminded us that the high mountain meadows of the Carpathians are ecologically very important areas of mountain wildlife. Red Book orchids and rare saffrons bloom there at different times.

The environmentalist fears that businessmen will destroy these unique areas of wildlife by grazing sheep and construction. He emphasized that the entertainment tourism that they want to open in the meadows has nothing to do with environmental education, which is the role of national parks.

“Today they will start making cheese, tomorrow they will open a ski resort, install windmills, and the day after tomorrow they will start bringing trophy hunters from Europe to shoot wild bears. This is the beginning of a disaster. And there will be no nature reserve left. Neither will the wildlife. We have already been through all this more than once,” Boreiko says.

The other day, EcoPolitic reported that KECC activists accused the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine of slowing down the development of nature reserves in Ukraine.
