Court hearings have begun in the case against Tetiana Davydovych, who last summer threw her small dog off a bridge at the Yahotyn railway station in Kyiv Oblast.

This was reported by animal rights activist and volunteer Snizhana Bugrik on her Instagram page.

She said that Goroshynka fell from a height of almost 10 meters. As a result, she suffered severe injuries, mutilation, and concussion, but volunteers managed to save her life.

Thanks to treatment and rehabilitation, the dog is now walking, although she was paralyzed for a long time, but she walks incompletely and does not relieve herself.

The volunteer says that the Yahotyn District Court of Kyiv Oblast has already begun consideration of the case. Citizen Tetyana Davydovych is accused of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – cruelty to animals, which was committed intentionally and resulted in bodily injury or mutilation, if the actions were committed with particular cruelty or in an active manner. This article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years with confiscation of the animal.

According to Snizhana Bugrik, the animal rights activists also filed a civil lawsuit to reimburse the costs of the animal's treatment and rehabilitation.

The volunteer was present at the first hearing in this case. She says that the accused does not admit her guilt.

“I didn't see a drop of remorse in her, and it was her dog,” Snizhana Bugrik is outraged.

She said that the lawyer Oksana Kosagor, together with the accused, took the position of not pleading guilty and not recognizing the claim. However, animal rights activists managed to involve more than 10 witnesses on behalf of the prosecution.

“This case is very important for society! Animal cruelty must be punished! People must understand that this is a crime and there will be responsibility for it!” the volunteer emphasized.
