ReThink, a non-governmental organization supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine, has created the POVTORNO platform. It will help reduce the amount of construction waste generated as a result of the war and beyond.

How it works
“POVTORNO is a free online service where you can find and then buy or sell old building materials. It can also be leftovers from construction, unused building materials, etc. The platform also offers practical advice and educational publications on how to work with such materials.

"The platform offers new opportunities for creating a sustainable future in Ukraine, using the resources we already have at our fingertips," says ReThink.
Roman Puchko, the co-founder and director of the NGO, said that the team had the idea of creating a platform that would help reuse secondary building materials in the summer of 2022. Then, after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukraine was faced with a huge amount of construction and demolition waste.
According to ReThink members, similar platforms already exist in countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium and France.
Now the main goal of the project, activists believe, is to demonstrate that the reuse of building materials can be not only ecological, but also an economically feasible solution that benefits business, communities and the environment.
What the online service offers
The platform is open to anyone who has leftover construction materials or secondary resources. On "POVTORNO" it is possible to place both paid and free ads.

The platform has registered suppliers that have been verified by ReThink experts. In general, it promotes cooperation between designers, businesses, communities, and foreign partners.
In addition, in a separate section of this online service, you can find practical advice and training materials, guides, and case studies on working with recycled materials. POVTORNO also provides information on possible risks when working with recycled materials, such as the need to comply with safety precautions when working with potentially contaminated structural elements.
