About a quarter of them, along with power plants, will also receive energy storage facilities

In two years, almost three hundred solar power plants will be installed at hospitals and outpatient clinics in 190 settlements visited by 2 million Ukrainians annually.

This was announced by Andriy Gerus, Chairman of the Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities.

Rooftop solar power plants will have a capacity of 7 to 100 kW. This will allow covering 20% to 70% of the healthcare facility's electricity needs and save budget funds for both the institution and the community.

Hospitals and dispensaries will be able to sell about 5% of the electricity generated during peak daytime hours to the grid. And such experience already exists. Khmelnytskyi Medical and Diagnostic Center became the first medical facility in Ukraine that began to sell electricity produced on its own solar panels. Last year, SES with a total capacity of 100 kW was installed on the roofs of three of his polyclinics.

According to preliminary calculations, cost savings for medical institutions that will receive SES will amount to about 55 million UAH per year, and about 1.5 billion UAH in 30 years.

As EcoPolitic reported in March, in Kharkiv SPP and a generator ensured the operation of a hospital during a blackout.
