The "Kruhlyk" forest tract was a stand of 80–100-year-old trees unique for the steppe Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. However, only stumps remain there now.
This was reported by Oleksandr Zhukov, a professor at Melitopol State Pedagogical University, in a post in the Facebook community of the Department of Botany, Ecology and Landscape Gardening.

Destruction of the forest
The aspen grove was a unique forest oasis amid the steppe, located between the terraces of the Samara River. Forests are extremely rare in such conditions.
The soils that formed in "Kruhlyk", solods, are also quite rare.
The first description of this patch of forest vegetation on the grassy plains was recorded back in 1948. The tract is located in Pavlohrad District and is part of the "Mohyla Baba" landscape reserve.

As a reminder, in the Carpathians, due to the construction of wind farms in the highlands, there are plans to cut additional roads through the forest. The road already built to Runa has led to the destruction of a primeval forest. To prevent this from happening again, environmental activists are urging foresters to abandon their destructive plans.
