Water quality study in the Kamianka River continues

In Zhytomyr, the discharge of pollutants into the Kamianka River, which occurred on September 2 due to siltation of the sewage collector as a result of heavy rains, was eliminated.

This was reported by the press service of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Polissya District.

Environmental inspectors said that the wastewater discharge has stopped and the river is gradually being cleaned. Currently, experts of instrumental and laboratory control are examining water samples taken on September 2 and 8.

The environmental inspectorate is also preparing a request to Zhytomyrvodokanal to obtain data on the amount of pollutants discharged into the river. Based on this data and the results of the analyzes, the inspectors will calculate the damage caused to the environment.

The inspectors emphasize that any violation of environmental legislation has a serious impact on the river's ecosystem, and control over such violations will only get tougher.

As EcoPolitics wrote earlier, wastewater got into the Kamianka River in Zhytomyr Oblast due to siltation of the sewage collector as a result of rains. Experts took water samples.
