The Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food will be merged into a new Ministry of Resources under the leadership of Oleksiy Sobolev, who is currently the First Deputy Minister of Economy.
These forecasts of changes in the structure of the ministries were made public by Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on his Telegram channel.
In his opinion, the good news is that ‘Oleksiy Sobolev is a good and decent man’. The current head of the Ministry of Environment, Svitlana Hrynchuk, will lead the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, where she has already worked as a deputy from September 2023 to September 2024.
As a reminder, there was a similar situation in 2019. At that time, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources were also merged into one structure called the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine. It didn't last long: in 2020, the combined ministry was liquidated and two separate agencies were created again.
At the end of June, EcoPolitic wrote that, according to Yaroslav Zheleznyak, Svitlana Hrynchuk is not facing resignation during the next Cabinet renewal.
