The Eco-Optima Group of Companies plans to build a new wind farm near the town of Belz, Sheptytsky district, Lviv region.
This was reported by ZAXID.NET, which spoke with the company's co-owner Stepan Kozytsky.
“We saw that there is a wind farm in that area on the Polish side, so we took wind measurements on our territory. The wind is there, and it is very good,” the businessman said.
He said that the planned wind farm will have a capacity of about 100 MW. The project cost is estimated at around €110 million. It has been in development for about 5 years and is planned to be implemented by the end of 2026. The company leased the land for construction from the city council.
The new wind farm will include up to 18 wind generators.
According to Stepan Kozytskyi, the future wind farm will be able to cover 10% of the annual energy demand of Lviv region, which is 4 billion kWh.
Currently, Eco-Optima is negotiating the financing of the wind farm construction with several potential lenders, including Oschadbank. This state-owned bank is already financing another similar project of the group – a wind farm in Sokal with a capacity of up to 40 MW. It is planned to be launched this year.
At the same time, the company is negotiating with Ukrainian manufacturers of wind towers and choosing turbine models. Eco-Optim says that these will most likely be units from the German company Nordex.
According to the Sheptytsky District State Administration, the wind farm near the town of Belz will be built by Energopark Belz LLC, a member of the Eco-Optima group. For this purpose, the company has leased a 12.5-hectare land plot between the villages of Hlukhiv and Silets.
ZAXID.NET reminded that Eco-Optima already has a complex of operating wind farms in Drohobych and Sambir districts in its portfolio, and will soon launch a wind park near Sokal.
