Specialists assure that this situation is typical for the autumn period

As of the morning of September 23, according to air quality monitoring stations, the situation with air pollution in the capital and its environs has become worse again.

This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

After a temporary improvement in the air quality in the evening of September 22, Kyiv residents are again warned about the average level of air pollution. The reason for this is the following:

  • peatland burning;
  • fires in ecosystems;
  • autumn temperature fluctuations;
  • light wind

According to the web resource "EkoZagroza", the map of air pollution in Kyiv as of 10:30 on September 23 looks like this:

In order to reduce the negative impact on health during peatland fires and reduce the risk of developing serious diseases, the Ministry of Environment recommends following safety measures:

  • if possible, avoid being outdoors, especially during periods of intense smoke;
  • keep windows and doors closed so that smoke does not enter the premises;
  • drink a lot of water to maintain water balance;
  • use a mask or respirator, as well as an air purifier;
  • do wet cleaning of premises.

Experts advise people with diseases of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems to pay special attention to these tips.

On September 20, EcoPolitic informed that in Kyiv there is air pollution in some places reached dangerous level. We also published weather forecaster's comment Nataliya Didenko about when the people of Kyiv will be able to breathe more easily.
