Air quality in Kiev has deteriorated again

Anna Velyka

This is associated with fires and adverse weather conditions

In the capital, the permissible level of suspended particles (dust) in the air is exceeded.

The Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) warns about this.

As a probable cause of temporary deterioration of air, officials call fires in the ecosystems of the Kyiv region and meteorological conditions that promote accumulation and retention of harmful impurities in the ground layer of the air.

In this connection, the following was recommended to the Kyiv residents of KCSA:

  • close the windows;
  • limit your stay on the street;
  • drink a lot of water;
  • If you have an air purifier, turn it on to maximum.

In most districts of the capital, according to the air quality monitoring map on the KCSA website, the air quality index (CAQI) is in the “Low” range, only in Vinogradar it is “Medium”.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Kyiv July 24-28 observed critical level of nitrogen dioxide in the air. Meteorologists then explained the sharp increase in the content of the pollutant by hot, dry and low-wind weather, which contributed to the accumulation of other pollutants (sulfur dioxide and formaldehyde) in the ground layer of the atmosphere.
