Svetlana Grinchuk is called the main candidate for the post of Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine after the resignation of Ruslan Strшlets.

Place of birth: Chernivtsi.

Education: Chernivtsi Institute of Trade and Economics (Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics) – specialty of financial and economic profile. Candidate of Economic Sciences. In 2013 she defended her thesis on the topic: "Development of mortgages in agriculture in Ukraine."

Current position: Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.

Career growth:

  • 2016: headed the Department for Climate Change and Ozone Layer Protection at the Ministry of the Environment. Oversaw the ratification and implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement and ensuring Ukraine's fulfillment of international obligations under the Kyoto and Montreal Protocols.
  • 2019: held the position of adviser to the head of the government. She dealt with issues of environmental protection and climate change.
  • 2020: worked as an adviser to the Minister of Finance on public grounds.
  • 2021: became one of the founders of the public organization "ESG Association Ukraine". Engaged in entrepreneurship in the field of public relations.
  • 2022: participated in international projects in the field of ecology and energy (GIZ, USAID). On July 29, she became the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine for European Integration.
  • 2023: On September 5, she assumed the position of Deputy Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko. Manages the Reform Support Office at the department.

She is an expert in the field of energy, climate change and environmental protection with experience of working in the Government of Ukraine (Secretariat of the CMU, Ministry of Environment), international financial institutions (World Bank), international technical assistance projects (GIZ, USAID) and participation in negotiations within the framework of the UN.
