Prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent to court an indictment against 3 members of an organized criminal group engaged in illegal logging in the Mykolaiv district.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Investigators found that a law enforcement officer from Mykolaiv region wanted to make extra money, so he was engaged in illegal logging. He also involved two of his acquaintances in the criminal activity.

During January-March 2024, they harvested wood on the territory of the Mykolaiv district without any permits. In the future, they planned to implement it.
The investigators of TU DBR established 5 episodes of illegal activity of this organized criminal group.

The amount of damage caused to the natural environment exceeds UAH 1 million.
"Black lumberjacks" are accused of part 3 of Art. 28 "Commitment of a criminal offense by a group of persons, a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy, an organized group or a criminal organization", Part 2, Part 4 of Art. 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – "Illegal felling or illegal transportation, storage, sale of forest". The sanction of the article provides for restriction of liberty for a period of 3 to 5 years or deprivation of liberty for the same period.
