The concentration of formaldehyde in the atmosphere of Mykolaiv on July 22-27 exceeded the maximum permissible average daily concentration by 2.4-4.1 times.

Information about atmospheric air quality was published by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology on Facebook.

Meteorologists noted that formaldehyde is the main pollutant of the air environment in Mykolaiv – "stable, for many years."

Formaldehyde is a carcinogen and one of the most dangerous air pollutants. According to the order of the Ministry of Health, its permissible average daily concentration is 0.003 mg/cubic meter. m. Formaldehyde vapors enter the air with exhaust gases from transport, with cigarette smoke, burning of garbage, evaporation of sewage.

Concentrations of suspended solids, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, dioxide and nitrogen oxide did not exceed the average daily MPC.
