The Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution on the procedure for interaction between the information systems of authorities and the national environmental monitoring system. Now data on the state of the environment will be collected from all over Ukraine and summarized on the EcoSystem platform.

This was announced by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The government has determined how the "collection" of environmental information from various state and local authorities, as well as regional environmental monitoring centers that are planned to be created in Ukraine, will be carried out. Such information from all available official online sources in the country will automatically be sent to the EcoSystem and systematized.

After processing, data on the state of the environment will be available to every Ukrainian around the clock and in a convenient visual format.

"Therefore, the public will not need to go to various websites of the authorities to find the necessary data, then independently "compile them into a single picture" and analyze them. And officials will be able to effectively make management decisions – without wasting time on inquiries and correspondence with other state bodies. After all, in order to build a high-quality environmental policy, it is necessary to have comprehensive and reliable data on each component of nature", commented the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets.

We will remind you that the Ministry of Environment is currently reforming the system of state environmental monitoring so that it meets European standards and criteria. It is planned to build a complex system of constant monitoring of each component of the environment.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, on June 13, the government approved a new structure of the environmental monitoring system. It provides for 8 monitoring subsystems: atmospheric air, water, land and soil, forests, biological and landscape diversity, geological environment, waste management, and physical factors. Monitoring will be carried out at 4 levels: national, regional, local and facility. Regional environmental monitoring centers will be established on the ground.

In the future, the national environmental monitoring system is planned to be integrated into the pan-European one.

Also, we previously reported that in March 2023 Verkhovna Rada approved Draft Law No. 7327 "On the State Environmental Monitoring System".
