Environmentalists from the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District have shared useful tips on how each of us can contribute to reducing the negative impact of transport on the world.

They posted a list of these tips on the Inspectorate's Facebook page.

  1. Use of public transport

One of the most effective ways to reduce emissions of harmful substances is the use of public transport. Buses, trams, trolleybuses and subways are able to transport a large number of passengers in one flight, which significantly reduces the number of cars on the roads and, accordingly, reduces the level of air pollution.

  1. Bicycle as an alternative mode of transport

It is not only environmentally friendly, but also a form of transport that is beneficial for health. Many cities have already created bike lanes and infrastructure for convenient cycling. Switching to a bicycle will help reduce emissions of CO2 and other harmful substances.

  1. Use of electric vehicles

Electric cars are a great alternative to cars with internal combustion engines. They do not produce emissions, and their use helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels. By supporting the development of infrastructure for charging electric vehicles, we contribute to the spread of this ecological transport.

  1. Car sharing and shared trips

Car sharing and joint trips (carpooling) make it possible to reduce the number of cars on the roads. The use of one car by several people reduces emissions and traffic congestion. In addition, it can be economically beneficial for all participants.

  1. Support of environmental initiatives

Citizens can support environmental initiatives aimed at reducing pollution from transport. This can be participation in tree-planting campaigns, support for legislative changes aimed at environmental protection, or financial support for environmental organizations.

  1. Education and information

Dissemination of information about the importance of ecological transport and the impact of transport on the environment is an important aspect of eco-activism. Informing friends, family and colleagues about simple ways to reduce the negative impact of transport can have a significant effect.

"Eco-activism starts with small steps, which together can lead to big changes," the eco-inspectors emphasized.

In January, EcoPolitic reported that the sale of "Euro-3 and 4" gasoline was banned in Ukraine.
