Declarations for 2021 and 2022 were submitted by all 22 members of the government

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets was ranked 10th in The Page's ranking of the richest ministers based on declarations for 2022.

His income for this period reached UAH 6.66 million, The Page reports.

Officials had to file their declarations for 2021 and 2022 by January 31, 2024, which all 22 members of the government did. The publication used data from the register of declarations to create the rating.

"Our calculations are approximate because not all members of the government indicated the value of some objects and property. If ministers provided clear data on an object or property (for example, a car brand), it was taken into account at the average market price," the article says.

The Page added that the declarations may not reflect the totality of all assets. After all, they do not contain information about their parents and other relatives to whom property or wealth could have been "transferred." In addition, most ministers indicated the value of the property as of the date of acquisition of the right, for example, in one of the declarations the cost of purchasing an apartment in Kyiv is 6 thousand hryvnias.

The TOP-10 wealthiest ministers in 2022 include:

  • Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries – UAH 146.92 million;
  • Rustem Umyerov, Minister of Defense – UAH 109.29 million;
  • Mykola Solskyi, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food – UAH 68.33 million;
  • Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure – UAH 54.85 million;
  • Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister – UAH 22.54 million;
  • Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology – Minister of Digital Transformation – UAH 16.10 million;
  • Matvii Bidnyi, t.v. at. the Minister of Youth and Sports – UAH 15.51 million;
  • Herman Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine – UAH 12.82 million;
  • Yulia Laputina, Minister of Veteran Affairs (until February 7, 2024) – UAH 9.87 million;
  • Ruslan Strelits, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources – UAH 6.66 million.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the Association of Environmental Professionals (PAEW) stated that public statements by officials of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources regarding the possibility of collecting and accepting hazardous waste without a license are not true. This contradicts the provisions of Law No. 2320-IX "On Waste Management", misleads all participants in the field of waste management and undermines the authority of both the waste reform itself and the Ministry of Environment.
