The ban was suspended at the start of a full-scale invasion to deal with the fuel crisis

The Cabinet of Ministers has made early amendments to the Technical Regulations on requirements for motor gasoline, which restore fuel quality requirements not lower than the Euro 5 environmental standard.

This decision introduces a ban on the sale of fuel with lower environmental standards of Euro 3 and Euro 4, Taras Melnychuk, the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, reports on Telegram.

He explained that the amendments implement the provisions of EU legislation (Directives 98/70/EC and 1999/32/EC) to ban the sale of leaded gasoline and set fuel requirements.

As you know, the ban was suspended at the beginning of the full-scale invasion to overcome the fuel crisis.

Melnychuk added that the government also:

  • approved the draft law "On Amendments to the Administrative Code, the Criminal Code on the Protection of Aquatic Bioresources and Their Habitat", which strengthens responsibility for violations of legislation in the areas of fisheries and aquaculture, fishing rules and the protection of aquatic bioresources;
  • laid out in a new edition the Procedure for using the lands of the water fund with the aim of bringing it into compliance with the norms of the Water and Land Codes of Ukraine, the laws "On Inland Water Transport" and "On Waste Management";
  • approved the Strategy for the Development of Territories in the Zone of Exclusion and the Zone of Unconditional (Mandatory) Resettlement for 2024-2032, which is aimed at determining promising directions for the effective use of this territory, its development, etc.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the European Business Association called on the government to urgently take measures to restore the work of companies in the field of hazardous waste management. Since January 9, any activity in this field is illegal in Ukraine.
