At the landfill, Christmas trees will become a source of the powerful greenhouse gas methane

Odesa has opened 32 collection points for Christmas trees and pine trees, where the trees will be given a second life and used for environmental purposes.

Odesa City Council has published the addresses where residents and visitors can bring their unwanted Christmas trees.

As you know, if Christmas trees are thrown into a common container, they will end up in a landfill, where they will become a source of powerful greenhouse gas methane. This gas increases climate warming by more than 80 times in the first 20 years compared to carbon, and according to scientists, the world is in the early stages of a climate emergency and will exceed the level of global warming by 1.5°C by 2030.
