Ukraine seeks to involve as many countries as possible in the implementation of the clause of the Peace Formula "Environmental security"

During the massive shelling of Kyiv on December 29 and January 2, about 5,000 tons of carbon dioxide were released into the air, causing $400,000 in damage.

Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets said this at the fifth meeting of the International Working Group on the Environmental Consequences of War, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.

The meeting participants discussed the preparation of a draft Environmental Treaty of Ukraine. According to the co-chair of the meeting, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, the document should become a guide to combating the negative impact of war on nature for Ukraine and the whole world.

"The environment maintains a priority position on Ukraine's path to Victory. We are preparing to present Point 8 of the Peace Formula during the Fourth Meeting of National Security Advisers in Davos. The goal is to involve as many countries as possible in the implementation of the point "Environmental security". There are many challenges and new goals ahead. Hard responsibility for environmental crimes is a necessary condition for sustainable peace not only in Ukraine, but throughout the world," said Strelets.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that eco-inspectors have calculated more than 49.2 billion UAH of damages for the environment of Kyiv Oblast caused by Russian aggression since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Previously, EcoPolitic prepared TOP-5 largest environmental disasters in Ukraine for 2024.
