The official faces imprisonment for up to 5 years

The former head of a department of the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre was served in absentia with a notice of suspicion in Mykolaiv region of transferring 23 hectares of the Buzky Gard National Nature Park to private ownership.

The official is suspected of negligence for approving the permits, which caused grave consequences, Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reports.

The investigation found that the suspect improperly performed her duties and showed criminal negligence. The protected area of Pervomaisky district was transferred to 11 people.

"By her actions, the perpetrator caused damage to the state of almost 630,000 hryvnias," the report says.

The press service emphasized that the sanctions of part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code provide for imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to 3 years and with a fine of up to 750 tax-free minimum income of citizens or without such.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that  in 2022, eco-activists appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office regarding the State Geocadastre's suspicion of deliberately not taking measures to preserve the natural reserve fund of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-activists criticized the draft instruction of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources on maintenance of the state cadastre territories and objects of the nature reserve fund. The document increases the risk of "deriban", plowing, construction of protected areas, legalization of illegal decisions, and also reduces the possibility of public control and access of scientists to data.
