Deputy Energy Minister Yaroslav Demchenkov says that after the war, Ukraine aims to return to the top 10 countries in the world in terms of renewable energy development.
To achieve this goal, with an emphasis on wind energy production, the support and expertise of Denmark is important, the Government Portal reports.
It is noted that this happened at the event "Legal and Technical Challenges for Unlocking Ukraine's Wind Energy Potential". The partners presented a mid-term report on the potential of offshore wind energy. They also discussed steps to implement the technical and legal analysis.
Demchenkov added that Ukraine has expanded cooperation with Denmark and included wind energy in its priority areas.
According to Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, Ukraine's wind energy potential is estimated at 140 GW, and the country is interested in international investment in its development. In particular, the temporarily occupied shelves of the Black and Azov Seas have great potential for wind power development.
Demchenkov said that one of the main obstacles in the work on the issue of stability and flexibility of the energy system is the lack of so-called climate financing. It must be increased, because wind generation will play a key role in fulfilling Ukraine's climate obligations.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in July Ukraine and Denmark started cooperation in the field of wind energy, the first stage of which involves an accelerated study of the potential of Ukrainian offshore generation.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, during the full-scale war in Ukraine, three wind power plants with a total capacity of 228.5 MW were put into operation.
