Since the beginning of 2023, Transcarpathian customs officers have documented 25 cases of illegal exports of forest products totaling UAH 6 million.

The offenders provided timber documents with false information about the quantity, range, name and value of the goods, as well as forged certificates, the Transcarpathian Customs reported on Facebook.

"In order to prevent smuggling risks and losses of the state budget, Transcarpathian Customs maximally controls the export of forest and wood materials, especially valuable species," the press service emphasized, adding that in order to detect violations of customs legislation, relevant requests are sent to the state forestry and hunting management departments.

It is noted that in 11 months of 2023, customs officials seized more than 550 cubic meters of wood and 1,680 kg of fuel briquettes for a total amount of almost UAH 6 million.

In the message, it was emphasized that violators are brought to administrative responsibility and they pay considerable fines. Contraband goods are confiscated.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Volyn, customs officers confiscated 21 cubic meters of illegal pine trimmed lumber worth 65 thousand hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in May in Transcarpathia on the border with Hungary, customs officials discovered illegal export of timber for almost 300 thousand hryvnias.
