Losses from improper disposal reached 800 thousand hryvnias

An entrepreneur from the Cherkasy district will appear in court for contamination of 1.9 hectares of land with hazardous substances from improper processing of automobile tires.

According to specialists' estimates, this created risks for an increase in the general morbidity of the local population, reports the press service of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office.

It is noted that the indictment was drawn up under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 239 of the Criminal Code (pollution of land committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy). The violator faces a fine of one to four thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.

The message emphasized that the processing of such toxic waste requires special disposal methods. Losses from improper disposal reached 800 thousand hryvnias.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the suburb of Cherkassy, ​​in the industrial zone, for more than 2 years there was an enterprise for disposal of car tires, where they were simply burned. Local residents complained that they were suffocating from the emissions, which also left yellow stains.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, furnaces for burning rubber, smoke from which polluted the air were discovered in Zaporizhzhia. The territory of the enterprise is heavily littered with waste rubber, tires and covered with a layer of soot.
