People are afraid that a pig farm or a slaughterhouse will appear 50 meters from their houses

In Lviv region, residents of the village of Kologhory, Bibrska hromada, blocked construction on a farm, which people consider illegal.

Villagers are convinced that the farmer does not have the necessary permits, activist Roman Tuzyak reports on Facebook.

"Currently, the blocking has been declared indefinite," he said.

Tuzyak explained that people are afraid that a pig farm or a slaughterhouse will appear 50 meters from their houses. This will have a negative impact on the ecological condition of the community.

He added that the farmer is connected with the companies "Lemberg-agro", "Khodorivsky meat processing plant".

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Lviv District Administrative Court recognized as illegal and annulled the conclusion of the state sanitary-epidemiological examination regarding the pig farm of the Hryada Regional State Agricultural Company on a significant increase in the number of livestock. Residents of the village suffered for years from the unpleasant smell from the farm, air, water and soil pollution from animal manure. They wanted to halve the sanitary area of the farm, and the number of livestock – from 12,000 to 48,000.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the director of a meat processing plant from the Volodymyr district will be tried in Volyn, who organized the dumping of waste from animal carcasses in a forest strip near the village of Ozyutychi. This caused significant soil pollution.
