Activists plan to prepare slopes for planting herbs

Kharkiv residents were urged to join 30 eco-camps to clean up the Wet Zhikhor ravine on the Zhikhorets river from the garbage that has been accumulating there for decades.

The action will take place on Sunday, October 15, at 12:00 p.m., according to the Facebook page of the "New Kharkiv" movement, which started the cleanup.

An activist of the movement, Halyna Krasnobryzhaya, said that during the action, the volunteers will additionally clean the slopes of the ravine for planting herbs, and will also continue to clean the right slope above the brook. In addition, activists plan to prepare sites for the accumulation of bags and bulky waste.

Kharkiv eco-activist Artem Prykhodko on Facebook called on the participants of the action to have with them: 

  • thick rubber gloves;
  • thick-soled shoes;
  • a set of changing clothes;
  • rakes and other economic tools;
  • drinking water

He noted that the volunteers will meet at 12:00 p.m. at Oleksandrivskyi Avenue, 114b, near the service station.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kharkiv during the 27th eco-walk on September 24, volunteers removed about 6 tons of garbage from the Mokry Zhikhor ravine, i.e. about 250 bags.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, In Kharkiv, in the KhTZ area, activists of the "New Kharkiv" movement in 2023 began clearing the Mokry Zhikhor ravine from garbage that had been accumulating there for decades.
