Cabinet appoints Grinchuk as new Deputy Minister of Energy

The environmental community highly appreciates his professionalism and expertise in the field of green transformation and climate change

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Friday, September 1, appointed Svetlana Grinchuk as the new Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.

As you know, Grinchuk served as Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine for European Integration from July to December 2022.

Prior to her appointment, she collaborated with international projects in the environmental and energy sectors. From 2016 to 2019, she was the effective director of the Department for Climate Change and Ozone Layer Protection at the Ministry of Natural Resources. It was during her tenure that the Paris Climate Agreement was ratified and Ukraine ensured the fulfillment of international obligations by Ukraine under the Kyoto and Montreal protocols for the protection of the ozone layer.

As Deputy Minister, Ms. Svetlana took care of:

  • adaptation of the environmental legislation of Ukraine to the European one;
  • system for monitoring, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions;
  • emissions trading system.

Grinchuk also actively covered at international conferences the catastrophic impact of Russian aggression on the environment of the European continent and climate change.

After leaving office, she did not leave environmental activities and led the reform support team at the Ministry of Energy.

It should be noted that the environmental community highly appreciates her professionalism and expertise in the field of green transformation and climate change.
