Observatory specialists analyzed 1573 air samples

In the air in Kyiv for a week from August 21 to 26 an excess of the average daily maximum permissible concentrations of nitrogen dioxide by 4.2 times was revealed.

Compared to the previous week, the level of formaldehyde pollution has decreased, according to the weekly report on air pollution from the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky.

According to the observatory, the excess of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) for the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide was:

  • 2.7-4.2 times – on the squares of Demeevskaya, Galician and Bessarabska, Obolonsky and Beresteysky avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Academician Strazhesko, Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavel Polubotok, Engineer Borodin, Kaunas and Sklyarenko;
  • no excesses were observed at 37, Nauki Ave. (near the meteorological site).

Exceeding the MPC for the average daily content of sulfur dioxide:

  • 1.2-1.7 times – on Demeevskaya, Bessarabskaya and Galitskaya squares, Obolonsky and Beresteysky avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Academician Strazhesko, Alexander Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavel Polubotok, Engineer Borodin, Kaunas and Sklyarenko;
  • no excesses were observed at 37, Nauki Ave. (near the meteorological site).

Exceeding the MPC for the average daily content of formaldehyde:

  • 1.1-2.9 times – on the squares of Demeevskaya, Bessarabska and Galitska, avenues of Science, Obolonsky and Beresteysky, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Academician Strazhesko, Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Kaunas and Sklyarenko.

Exceeding the MPC for the average daily content carbon monoxide:

  • 1.1 times – on the streets of Engineer Borodin and Sklyarenko (August 26).

Observatory specialists selected and analyzed 1573 atmospheric air samples from 16 stationary posts.

As reported by EcoPolitics earlier, in Kyiv on the Kharkiv massif, as of Friday, August 25, for the third day in a row, five-fold excesses of the maximum allowable concentration of hydrogen sulfide were recorded in the air.
