Laboratory studies proved that the oxygen content in the water is below normal

On the Guiva River in the area of ​​the village of Guiva, Zhytomyr region, there was a mass loss of aquatic biological resources.

This is reported by the Zhytomyr Fish Protection Patrol. The incident was recorded after the appeal of amateur fishermen.

Employees of the Zhytomyr Fish Protection Patrol immediately went to the scene. The fish guards conducted a survey of the shoreline and water splash of the reservoir, and drew up a report of the survey.

During the survey, dead fish were found: gustera – 712 specimens, perch – 925 specimens, bream – 104 specimens, zander – 16 specimens, pike – 15 specimens, crayfish – 23 specimens.

The total number of identified dead aquatic biological resources is 1795 specimens.

"Promptly responding to the appeal of fish guards, on August 9, 2023, environmental protection inspectors of the Polissky District went to the place of a possible violation of environmental legislation," said for Society Head of the State Ecoinspection of Polissky District Yevhenii Medvedovskyi.

To conduct the research, employees of the instrumental and laboratory control department took water samples from the river: at the scene and upstream and downstream.

"Conducted laboratory tests confirmed that the oxygen content in the water is below the norm – 3.8 mg/dm3, while the norm is at least 6 mg/dm3 outside the settlement. Research on chemical indicators is ongoing, state inspectors are calculating the damages," says the head of the Inspectorate. .

According to him, materials with the results of research and the calculated amount of damage caused to the environment will be sent to the address of the Zhytomyr Fish Protection Patrol and law enforcement agencies.
