The Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution on an experimental project to rebuild the Kakhovskaya HPP, which was blown up by the occupiers.

The project will last two years and involves two stages, namely design and reconstruction after the de-occupation of the territory, reports Government Portal.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized that the restoration of irrigation systems in the south of Ukraine is an important element of supporting the agricultural complex. Kakhovskaya HPP will play an important role in this.

"The project is designed for two years. At the first stage, we will design all the engineering structures, we will prepare the necessary base for restoration. The second stage will begin after the de-occupation of the territories where the hydroelectric power plant is located. It involves actual construction work," he explained.

Shmyhal said that the project will be coordinated by the Ministry of Economy, and the customer of the works will be PrJSC "Ukrhydroenergo". The decision to prepare for restoration was made after consultations with experts and specialists.

According to him, the rebuilding of Kakhovskaya HPP will increase the agricultural and energy potential of Ukraine.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal stated that, according to preliminary estimates, the damage to the environment from the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP reached $1.5 billion.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, at the bottom of the Kahovsky Reservoir the first sprouts of plants appeared.
