The content of poisonous substances in the air went off the scale in Kyiv

Compared to the previous week, the level of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide pollution increased

In the air of Kyiv during the week from June 12 to 17, an excess of the average daily maximum permissible concentration of nitrogen dioxide by 3.9 times was detected.

Compared to the previous week, the level of sulfur dioxide and formaldehyde pollution has decreased, according to the weekly report on air pollution from the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky.

According to the data of the observatory, the exceeding of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) in terms of the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide was:

  • 1.8-3.9 times – on Demiivska, Halytska and Bessarabska squares, Obolonski, Nauka and Beresteyski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Dovzhenka Hetman Pavla Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets .

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content of sulfur dioxide:

  • 1.1-1.9 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Obolonski and Beresteyska avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademik Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska and Semyon Sklyarenko streets ;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of ​​the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily formaldehyde content:

  • 1.1-2.5 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Obolonski, Nauka and Beresteyski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Dovzhenka, Hetman Pavla Polubotka, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets.

It is noted that compared to the previous week, the level of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide pollution increased.

Specialists of the observatory collected and analyzed 1,618 samples of atmospheric air from 16 stationary posts.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kyiv, communal workers removed from the territory Youth beach concrete structure about 850 meters in size.
