The Brovary district prosecutor's office of the Kyiv region informed about the suspicion of an official of one of the communal enterprises, who violated the rules of environmental safety, which caused the pollution of large areas.

In 2021, effluents from sewage treatment facilities polluted the Krasylivka River for a long time, which caused environmental damage of more than 4 million hryvnias, the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reports on Facebook.

It is noted that the official supervised the economic activity of the utility company. He committed a violation of the rules of environmental safety, in particular, he did not comply with the standards for the maximum permissible discharge of pollutants.

The message emphasized that due to pollution:

  • the number of fish and other aquatic organisms decreased in the river;
  • water has become unsuitable for certain types of general and special water use;
  • adjacent agricultural lands are contaminated.

"As a result, the living conditions of the residents of nearby settlements worsened," the press service emphasized.

It is noted that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Fastov, in the Kyiv region, eco-inspectors found an excess of ammonium nitrogen content by more than 3 times and other toxic substances in the Unava River, where a mass plague of fish occurred.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Kyiv, eco-inspectors discovered contamination of the Orihuvatsky ponds located in the park named after Maksym Rylskyi and is part of the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park. The content of some pollution indicators exceeded the maximum permissible concentrations by 6 times.
