In December, the content of total iron in the water exceeded the norm by more than nine times

In Kyiv, a pump station was repaired at the address: str. Yevhena Kharchenko, 29, in the "Bortnichy" microdistrict of Darnytskyi district, where the EcoPolitics team discovered multiple excesses of total iron and turbidity indicators in December.

From now on, drinking water quality indicators meet the requirements of the State sanitary norms and rules, says the letter of the "Kyivvodofond" SVKP to EcoPolitics.

The excesses were discovered during the study of the quality of drinking water in pumping stations, rivers and lakes of Kyiv and the region. The editorial office of EcoPolitics informed KP "Kyivvodfond" about the excess, so that specialists could eliminate the causes of rust entering drinking water.

Employees of "Kyivvodofondu" carried out sanitary and preventive work, washed the artesian well and set up a water purification system.

In addition, microbiological control of drinking water was carried out on February 2, 2023. Laboratory tests have found the water to be safe to drink and not contaminated with bacteria. Chemical analysis of the water quality from the pumping station also showed that:

  • the content of total iron reaches 0.2 mg/dm3, in December the indicator was overestimated more than nine times — 1.9 (when the norm is ≤ 0.2);
  • the turbidity index is equal to 0, and in December it was exceeded more than 5 times — 5.3 (with a norm of ≤ 1.0).

Earlier, EcoPolitics conducted research regarding the quality of drinking water in pumping stations, rivers and lakes of Kyiv and the region.
