The public outcry was very negative.

Kyiv City Council refused to create the National Memorial Military Cemetery in the Bald Mountain tract, which was opposed by the people of Kiev, a number of environmentalists, activists and the military.

The authorities changed their position only after a letter from the Cabinet of Ministers, which had previously chosen this location, the Chesno movement reports.

It is noted that Bald Gora is an object of the natural reserve fund and historical and cultural heritage. In addition, Red Book plants grow in the tract. A few years ago, there were mines and shells on its territory, so any burial can end tragically.

“The issue of the cemetery on Bald Mountain is closed. The public response is very negative, because such a location would be unfortunate for many reasons. Now we need to start the process of discussions with the public, profile specialists, ecologists, historians and architects,” said Olesya Pynzenyk, a member of the Kyiv City Council.

The material emphasized that, according to the Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, the cemetery can be located not only in the city, but also nearby, in the region.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that a petition was registered on the website of the Kyiv City Council demanding refuse to create National Memorial Military Cemetery in the tract Bald Mountain.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, eco-activists criticized the intention of the Kyiv City Council to build a military cemetery in a protected area, namely in the Lysaya Gora tract in the Goloseevsky district. They called such an initiative one of the the greatest speculations about the war.
