The eco-inspectors sent a request to the Chernivtsi City Council to eliminate the pollution

In Chernivtsi eco-inspectors found an excess of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of pollutants, according to some indicators, by 47 times, in the Molnytsia River.

They turned to the law enforcement officers to identify the persons guilty of the offense committed, the State Environmental Inspection of the Carpathian District reports on Facebook.

The message explained that the eco-inspectors became members of the commission of the Chernivtsi City Council for monitoring compliance with the requirements of environmental protection legislation in the sphere of water use of the Molnytsia River.

They took samples from Molnytsia, which is the right tributary of the Prut River, in the area of Karmelyuk-Zaliznyak streets in the city of Chernivtsi.

The water test showed an excess of MPC according to the following indicators:

  • ammonium salt (in terms of ammonium nitrogen) – from 12 to 18 times;
  • chemical oxygen consumption – from 5 to 9 times;
  • phosphates – 2 times;
  • BSK5 – from 44 to 47 times.

Eco-inspectors sent relevant materials to the Department of Infrastructure and Public Works of the Chernivtsi City Council to eliminate pollution.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that eco-inspectors collected a powerful evidence base in the case of committing ecocide in connection with the pollution of the Sluch rivers and Khomora with untreated waste water from a cardboard and paper enterprise.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the court forced the state enterprise Dubnovodokanal in the Rivne region to compensate 1.6 million hryvnias in damages for the discharge of wastewater into the Ikva River.
