An international forum on energy security and post-war reconstruction will be held in Ukraine

On November 21-25, 2022, the international energy security forum "Energy Security Forum 2022. Post-war recovery of the energy sector of Ukraine" will be held in Ukraine.

The participants of the event will discuss problems and outline the future development of the Ukrainian energy industry, says the press release of the State Energy Efficiency Agency.

The forum will be attended by representatives of government bodies, business, international institutions, public organizations and experts.

During the forum, participants will, among other things, discuss ways to ensure the security and stability of Ukraine's energy sector during the war. And also the post-war development of the Ukrainian energy industry.

"The participants of the forum will analyze in detail and give an assessment of the state of the electricity market, the gas market, the sphere of renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as the prospects for the development of hydrogen energy and the long-awaited biomethane market," the message emphasized.

Key thematic discussions of the forum:

November 21:

  • Security and stability of the energy sector of Ukraine during the war and its post-war recovery. Post-war development;
  • Cybersecurity in the energy sector: what are the challenges facing the critical infrastructure of Ukraine.

November 22:

  • Integration of the Ukrainian and European energy markets: what are the next steps;
  • The state of the gas market of Ukraine in the conditions of war;
  • Hydrocarbon exploration and production in Ukraine: reserve potential, challenges, prospects.

November 23:

  • The prospect of creating a regional Eastern European gas hub. Potential benefits for Europe and Ukraine;
  • The future of green energy in Ukraine. Possibilities and roadmap for introducing guarantees of origin of "green" energy in Ukraine;
  • Energy efficiency in energy, infrastructure, industry, construction and transport. Policy of the EU and Ukraine.

November 24:

  • Biomethane: challenges and opportunities for substituting imported energy carriers in Ukraine and the EU;
  • Development of the hydrogen economy in the European dimension;
  • Sustainability of nuclear energy in wartime conditions and post-war development of low-carbon generation.

November 25:

  • Wars and oil sanctions. Experience of previous crises and new challenges;
  • European experience of servicing electricity consumers;
  • Restoration of the unified gas transportation and gas distribution systems. Possible financing models: world experience and realities of Ukraine.

The message noted that the State Energy Efficiency Agency initiated discussions on the following topics:

November 23

  • 12:00-13:30 – International online discussion "The future of green energy in Ukraine. Possibilities and roadmap for the introduction of guarantees of origin of "green" energy in Ukraine";
  • 14:00-15:30 – International online discussion "Energy efficiency in energy, infrastructure, industry, construction and transport. Policy of the EU and Ukraine";

November 24

  • 10:00-11:30 – International online discussion "Biomethane: challenges and opportunities for replacing imported energy carriers in Ukraine and the EU";
  • 12:00-13:30 – International online discussion "Development of the hydrogen economy in the European dimension".
