The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Ruslan Strilets, said that the damage caused by the russian aggression to the environment of the Kharkiv region reached 83 billion hryvnias.
He emphasized that the calculated amount of damage is only a third of the cases that eco-inspectors were able to analyze and evaluate, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.
Strilets noted that the damage from soil pollution in the Kharkiv region alone amounts to 82 billion hryvnias, from air pollution due to fires – 134 million hryvnias, and from damage to green areas – more than 135 thousand hryvnias.
"The real volume is much larger, because due to the temporary occupation, mining of territories, constant shelling, experts do not always have direct access to the places of russian crimes. The calculated amount of damage is only a third of the cases that our inspectors were able to analyze and evaluate," he said during a briefing at the Kharkiv Media Hub.
According to him, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Kharkiv region, there have been 90 forest fires on an area of 126 hectares, the damage from which is estimated at 3.4 million hryvnias.
The message noted that three national natural parks of the Kharkiv Region are currently in danger:
- Dvorichanskyi;
- Gomilshan forests;
- Slobozhanskyi
Strilets emphasized that 112 water bodies remain on the temporarily occupied territory (the eastern bank of the Oskil River): 5 reservoirs and 107 ponds.
