Household waste subject to extended producer responsibility must be sent to a special reception or separate collection system

In Ukraine, the new Law about waste management considers every resident and guest's of the city acts as a generator of household waste, which provides a number of rights and imposes corresponding duties.

The generators of household waste have the rights and obligations of consumers of housing and communal services, Lviv Green City reports on Facebook.

So, every person can receive complete and reliable information about the safety of household waste processing facilities, as well as independently compost biowaste in homesteads, summer cottages and garden plots, following the rules.

In addition, citizens can:

  • enter into contracts with the provider of the household waste management service and pay a fee for the service;
  • ensure the transfer of household waste to the household waste management system, and household waste subject to extended producer responsibility to a specially created reception or separate collection system;
  • ensure separate collection of waste if there is a waste treatment facility.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the head of the Ministry of Environment, Ruslan Strilets, said that civilized waste management  a mandatory condition for Ukraine's accession to the EU.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi on July 7 signed the Law about waste management.
