The size of the carbon tax in Ukraine and the EU

From January 1, 2022, the carbon tax rate in Ukraine increased from 10 UAH ($0.3)/tCO2e to 30 UAH ($1)/tCO2e. This rate, even after its increase, will still remain the lowest in Europe (with the exception of Poland) compared to other countries. For example, in Sweden the rate is the highest and is $137/t СО2, in Switzerland – $101/t СО2, Finland – $62/t СО2, Norway – $69/t СО2, France – $52/t СО2, the Netherlands – $35/t СО2 , Portugal – $28/t CO2, in Ukraine, respectively, – $1.1/t CO2.
