Ihor Zubovych, Acting Head of the State Environmental Inspection, said that environmental damage from the war already amounts to more than 1.37 trillion hryvnias.
Eco-inspectors plan, with the help of international partners, to develop special comprehensive programs and plans that will help gradually return the environment to a normal state, reports State Inspection on Telegram.
Zubovych told about this at the meeting Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on environmental policy and nature management, where discussed the impact of the war on Ukraine's environment and ways of its restoration.
Zubovych emphasized that this is not the final result of the calculations, because eco-inspectors continue their work every day and the figures are constantly updated.
"This direction of activity of the State Environmental Inspection is important, as the legal framework must meet today's challenges. As a result, we currently have three effective methods, according to which the damages caused by the war are calculated," the message says.
The press service of the State Environmental Inspection also noted that the restoration of the natural environment will become a priority in the coming years. After all, most of the territory of Ukraine is damaged or is in critical condition.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that with at the Climate Summit COP27, Yevhenii Fedorenko, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, emphasized that in Ukraine the waste of war has already acquired such proportions, which have not existed on the European continent since the Second World War.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi during his speech at COP27 said that there can be no effective climate policy without peace, after all, nations seek to protect themselves from existing threats created, in particular, by the aggression of the Russian Federation.
