In Kyiv, the coordination center for the campaign will be located

The international media center for World Cleanup Day will be located in Ukraine.

This was announced by the organizers of World Cleanup Day in Ukraine – the youth movement “Let’s do it Ukraine”.

On September 20, 2025, Ukraine will once again join the largest environmental event in the world – World Cleanup Day. This year, the event partners include 1+1 media, Sarmix, Biosphere, the Red Cross Society, and others.

This decision aims to draw the world’s attention to environmental challenges and to demonstrate the resilience and solidarity of Ukrainians with the global eco-community, despite the ongoing war. Additionally, the decision to place the media center in Ukraine affirms the solidarity of countries worldwide with Ukraine.

World Cleanup Day focuses on fostering a culture of cleanliness, careful treatment of nature, and proper waste management.

The cleanup action coordinator, Yuliya Markhel, pointed out that eco-cide is occurring in Ukraine, and every action has tremendous significance for the environment.

“Even during wartime, we are obligated to care for nature and contribute to its recovery,” Markhel emphasized.

Since Ukraine remains under martial law and wartime conditions, the organizers stress the need to adhere to safety rules during the event. Participation in the campaign is only possible with the approval of the relevant local authorities at World Cleanup Day locations. In case of an air raid alert, all participants must move to shelter.

Ukrainians can join the cleanup campaign in several formats:

1) Traditional cleanups: cleaning parks, squares, and adjacent residential areas.

2) Digital cleanup: deleting unnecessary information from electronic devices.

3) Sorting recyclables: participating in the “Find. Sort. Hand Over!” project.

4) Participation of Ukrainians abroad: organizing cleanups in host cities.

The organizers urge all World Cleanup Day participants to register their results by September 27 to mark their contribution to cleaning the planet. In 2024, Ukraine ranked 11th in the cleanup campaign among 211 participating countries.

Earlier, EcoPolitic reported that the charity organization UaAnimals called on socially responsible businesses to join the Cleanup March, which is scheduled for September 21.

UaAnimals is once again organizing the Cleanup March, in which concerned citizens take to the streets, parks, and playgrounds to make the places where they spend their time cleaner. The key goal of the event is to clean public spaces from plastic.
