The official was found with 3 luxury cars and plots with cottage buildings

A deputy of the Rivne Regional Council, deputy director of the regional forestry office of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", was found to have UAH 150 million in national and foreign currency, as well as about 3.5 kg of gold.

He was served a notice of suspicion of illicit enrichment, the Prosecutor General's Office reports on Telegram.

It is noted that law enforcement officers conducted searches at the official's place of residence and work, his close relatives and associates. They also found jewelry, weapons, three luxury cars and other property.

"Also, the official owns plots of land in Rivne, registered to persons close to him, on which he organized the construction of cottages," the press service said.

The message added that the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is currently being resolved.

"We are starting strict personnel purges. At all levels. During the year, the security of the enterprise recorded the facts of the violation, collected information, conducted official investigations, handed over materials to the law enforcement officers. This was a huge job that required time. But we have a real result. So far, no details. Soon about you will learn everything," said the general director of "Forests of Ukraine" Yuriy Bolokhovets.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the former head of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Carpathian District was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison with confiscation of property for taking a bribe.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, former officials of the Volyn Regional Forestry and Hunting Range Administration and the Liuboml Forestry will be tried for organizing illegal deforestation worth UAH 21 million.
