In Rivne in 2023, five centers of acoustic or noise pollution were found, which negatively affects people's physical and mental health.
Specialists from the Rivne Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention monitored such pollution in 18 communities at 66 route points and found an excess only in Rivne, the RRCPC Telegram channel said.
The message explains that noise is a combination of unwanted sounds of different frequencies and intensities. And in times of war, the negative impact of noise on health becomes more pronounced. Thus, noise can cause nervous and cardiovascular diseases, hearing loss, sleep disorders, memory loss, etc. Noise also increases psychological stress and irritability, and weakens the immune system.
"Such negative consequences arise as a result of constant exposure to noise, even if its level does not exceed the permissible level," the report emphasized.
The RRCPC found exceeding the allowable equivalent noise levels in Rivne at the following addresses:
- St. Art. Bandera – Kn. Olga (Brooklyn) – by 4 dBA;
- St. Art. Bandera – August 24 – at 3 dBA;
- St., Nazar Nebozhynskoho, 54 (opposite the Epicenter from the side of Kulik and Hudachek streets) – at 4 dBA;
- St. Defenders of Mariupol, 89 – by 1 dBA;
- St. Karnaukhova, 47/49 – by 3 dBA.
It is noted that adaptation of the body to noise is practically impossible, therefore its regulation and limitation is important. This requires a complex of organizational, technical and medical measures, in particular:
At enterprises:
- reduction of the noise level in production:
- changes in technology and mechanism designs;
- use of soundproof and sound-absorbing materials;
- use of individual hearing protection devices.
In everyday life:
- competent rearrangement of interior items;
- use of carpets and curtains;
- installation of triple-glazed windows;
- compliance with the rules of residence.
