Residents are urged to conserve water as much as possible

In Kryvyi Rih, fresh water reserves in the Southern Reservoir will last for 6 weeks, provided economical consumption.

During this time, it is necessary to implement a number of serious projects so that the city will continue to have water, Oleksandr Vilkul, the head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, reports in Telegram.

He explained that on June 8, the water level in the Kakhovsky Reservoir fell below the Kryvyi Rih water intake and reached 12.5 meters, against the norm of 16.8 meters. That is why water stopped flowing into the South reservoir.

"In the South reservoir itself, thanks to the works carried out in advance, we have a reserve for economical consumption – I emphasize economical – for 1.5 months," Vilkul said. "The responsibility is huge, the time is very little."

According to him, three projects must be implemented in the city at the same time in 6 weeks. One is jointly with the Infrastructure Reconstruction and Development Agency. Two – by the forces of the city.

Vilkul added that currently "Kryvbasvodokanal" works almost 24 hours a day, water quality is monitored by experts. To help utility companies, it is necessary to save water as much as possible.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih PJSC suspended a number of steel production processes in order to reduce water consumption in critical conditions.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaly Kim, said that a serious environmental problem will arise in the region in 2-3 weeks due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, in particular, the city may be left without water.
