In Kharkiv on Sunday, October 8, at " Feldman Ecopark" massively poisoned animals with arsenic from contact area, namely 12 decorative rabbits and six guinea pigs.

On the Facebook page of the ecopark, the crime was called a real mass murder.

The message said that the zone was opened before the so-called Chrysanthemum Ball.

"It was really the kindest place, which the children loved very much. It was, – emphasized the press service of the ecopark. – It is difficult to understand the motives of the person who did it. It is unpleasant to realize that a person walks the streets of our city somewhere who is no better than the Russian military, who killed our animals at the beginning of a full-scale war."

It is noted that the employees of the park contacted the law enforcement officers.

Police of the Kharkiv region reported on Telegram that p the authorities opened criminal proceedings on the fact of the death of animals. They examined the scene, interviewed witnesses and removed the washings from the enclosures.

It is noted that the case was opened under Part 1 of Art. 3 Art. 299 (cruelty to animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Animal killers face up to 8 years in prison.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that animal rights activists accused the police of ignoring the facts of cruel treatment of animals in the Nemo Dolphinarium in Odesa, where bloggers held a photo session with the animals in a hotel room in April.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi was urged to strengthen criminal and administrative responsibility for cruelty to animals, as well as introduce the basics of humane treatment of animals into the school curriculum.
