Journalists reviewed the declarations of government members and compiled a salary rating for 2023. 13 ministers received a salary of more than one million hryvnias, including the Minister of Environmental Protection Ruslan Strilets, who earned 1.168 million hryvnias.
The total salary of all ministers in 2023 is UAH 23.543 million, according to Slovo i Dilo.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, received the most in his post – 1.3 million hryvnias for the year.
The second place was taken by the Minister of Justice Denys Malyuska, who earned 1.24 million hryvnias.
According to the declarations, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko received 1,186 million hryvnias, Yulia Laputina (already former minister of veterans' affairs) – 1,171 million, the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko – 1,168 million, the Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich – 1, 153 million, Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko – 1,122 million, Head of the Ministry of Health Viktor Lyashko – 1,115 million, and Minister of Environmental Protection Ruslan Strelets – 1,168 million.
It should be noted that the salary of the head of the Ministry of Environmental Protection is much higher than that of the Prime Minister and his deputies.
The infographic shows that Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal earned 974.8 thousand UAH, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk 974.7 thousand UAH, and Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksandr Kubrakov 974.5 thousand UAH.
A little more than a million hryvnias of salary was declared by the acting Acting Minister of Youth and Sports Matviy Bidny Minister of Culture Rostislav Karandeev and Cabinet Minister Oleg Nemchinov.
Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, who took office in March, earned UAH 982 thousand.
The salaries of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, who earned UAH 978.7 thousand, and First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, who earned UAH 976 thousand, were almost the same. Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solskyi earned UAH 971.5 thousand, and Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Mykhailo Fedorov earned UAH 969.3 thousand.
Minister for the Development of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn, appointed in March, received UAH 890.1 thousand in salary.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov earned the least – UAH 890 thousand. But he was appointed Defense Minister only on September 3.
As Ecopolitic previously reported, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that as part of the government's reform, it plans to reduce the number of ministries by a third and reduce the number of civil servants.
