Near the village of Stadnytsia in the Vinnytsia municipal community, there are plans to modernise the solid waste landfill and generate electricity from biogas. This work is planned to take place on an additional 7.7-hectare site, which is set to be transferred to municipal ownership.
This was reported by the media outlet “Suspilne”, citing a draft decision by the Vinnytsia City Council.
Currently, the land is still owned by the Vinnytsia Regional Council. “Vinoblagrolis” holds the right of permanent use of the plot. This enterprise is responsible for forestry operations.
The document states that the purpose of the land transfer is “to implement measures for the modernisation and reclamation of the solid waste landfill for the production of electricity from biogas”. This refers to the gas produced as a result of waste decomposition.
The draft resolution still needs to be approved by the executive committee of the Vinnytsia City Council. Once supported by councillors, the decision on the free transfer of land to the community must be adopted by the regional council.
