In particular, MPs will once again submit their proposals on the draft law "On the Timber Market" and improvement of Ukrainian legislation

The agenda of the meeting of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management, which will be held on October 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the format of a video conference, has been published.

EcoPolitics journalists have prepared the committee's agenda for their readers.

MPs will consider two draft laws and two personnel issues.

Agenda

Draft Law "On the Timber Market" No. 13227-d. It was introduced by Member of Parliament of Ukraine Dmytro Natalukha and other Members of Parliament of Ukraine.

The draft law aims to:

  1. Regulate the timber market and establish transparent rules for the purchase and sale of timber and timber products.
  2. Organize information on volumes, prices, and market participants so that it is open and public.
  3. Put an end to the practice of forest users entering into direct agreements, which creates opportunities for corruption schemes.

Draft Law No. 13642, developed in connection with the adoption of the Law "On Wastewater Disposal and Treatment." It provides for:

  1. Review and update of liability for violations in the field of wastewater disposal and treatment.
  2. Taking into account changes in the regulation of wastewater, treatment, and disposal, and bringing the Code in line with these changes, including the introduction of administrative liability for violations.
  3. Ensuring comprehensiveness so that the Code of Administrative Offenses has a mechanism to hold violators accountable.

In particular, the MPs will hear from Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Iryna Ovcharenko and Head of the State Agency for Water Resources Ihor Hopchak. They will report on the state of Ukraine's water sector, the formation and implementation of state policy in this area amid the war and constant Russian attacks on strategic water infrastructure.

Additionally, the MPs will consider proposals to improve Ukrainian legislation and other initiatives in the field of forestry following their official visit to Germany from September 6 to 15, 2025.

Officials will also discuss proposals to improve Ukrainian legislation and other initiatives in the field of forestry, developed following the official visit.

In May, MPs submitted a new draft law No. 13227 on the timber market to replace the failed one.

On April 29, the European integration draft law No. 4197-d "On the Timber Market" was voted on. On the same day, a group of MPs registered a new draft law No. 13277 with the same name, then withdrew it and submitted it again.
