In 2026, Kyiv's municipal enterprises plan to grow more than 4 million flowering plants in greenhouses and hotbeds. During the warm season, they will decorate the streets, squares, and parks of the capital.

This was reported on the website of the Kyiv City Council.

More than 17,000 m2 of greenhouses will be used to grow future planting material – this is the area operated by municipal enterprises. Active work is already underway here to grow flowers – they are being sown, pricked out, and prepared for planting.

"Even in the difficult conditions of war, Kyiv consistently adheres to its green city development strategy. This is an example of a systematic approach to urban environment management and a responsible attitude to the quality of the space in which Kyiv residents live," said Valentin Mondriyevsky, deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The unique "catalogue" of decorative plants includes begonia, petunia, salvia, tagetes, verbena, gazania and other flowers. They will decorate the capital's spaces throughout the warm season.

“Greenhouse and hothouse farms are a full-fledged production base for the city. Here, specialists work who oversee the entire plant cultivation cycle-from sowing seeds to planting them in the urban space. This approach allows the city to plan landscaping systematically and to guarantee the quality of plants for Kyiv’s parks and squares,” commented the Director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation, Pavlo Ivanov.

The Department considers the support and development of its own greenhouses as an important component of Kyiv’s environmental policy, as well as an investment in creating green comfort throughout the capital’s urban spaces.
